"Be faithful in small things because it is in them that your strength lies." Mother Theresa

Ok, so I am starting to blog. Why? To be honest, I'm not really sure. I have been thinking about it for years, and never found the courage to try it. I have many friends and family members who have started blogging as a way to connect to people who live far away, or to showcase their talents, or just "talk".
While I may use this as a way to do all of these things, I think I will mostly use it as a way to reflect on my self and the world around me. I am not sure if I will stick with it, or what will happen, but I am going to try it out.

I chose this title because there are many times in my life that I am unsure whether or not I have the strength to be a good wife, mother, daughter, daughter-in-law, friend, co-worker, OT, etc., etc., etc. I use this quote as an inspiration to always remember the small things in life. Not to always look for the big things. More often than not, there are things in life that we miss because we are too busy or whatever. There are so many things to be thankful for and so many blessings that are in our lives that we miss. Finding faith in the small things, is a way I find my inner strength.

What are the small things that you sometimes miss? A few weeks ago, Gordon, my Mom and I had a conversation about blessings, signs, or messages that we might miss. God sends us blessings or signs or whatever you believe in everyday, we just need to open our eyes and see them. There is a s story I recently heard that there was a desperate man who was praying and asking for God to reach down and touch him. To help him find his inner strength. At that moment he became annoyed at a butterfly who was trying to land on his shoulder. A sign? God talking to him? I don't know for sure, but I believe there are so many things that we miss each day.
Another story...My Mom and I were going into see a movie and there was a man coming out of the theater dressed in jean shorts, a plaid cotton short sleeved button down shirt, and a Redskin cap. For those of you who know my Dad...a sign? Was he around us? Who knows for sure, but my Mom and I believe.

So, here's my blog. A way for me to "talk", reflect, showcase talents, reconnect with friends and family near and far? Who knows. So here I go...jumping in with both feet (or both hands, as I type). Join me in finding faith in the small things to find our strength.

I believe in signs too Karen. I see and her and feel my mother around me all the time. I think our senses are just heightened when we lose someone. Keep the faith! Everyday is a blessing . Have fun with this I will check back again

Hi Karen,
My mom sent me your link and I had a rare few moments to read an email. I love what you wrote. I try to talk about our blessings at night when I put the kids to bed, that is, unless I haven't fallen asleep first. Looking forward to reading more.

Karen, you know you have the inner strength; we have talked about it many times. You just need to tap into it and keep your eyes and ears open to the signs. Good luck on your new endeavor. I'm sure this blog will be great; you have much to offer.
Love, Mom

Yo Sis,
Amy and I are so excited for your new blog and to hear your voice. I know(through Amy) that the blogging thing can at times be tough, but stick with it and you and your readers will be blessed. I really enjoyed your first post and premise of your blog. I relate closely, in fact I currently have some photography hung at our church in Chicago that brings a voice to the most ordinary, mundane, and seemingly insignificant things. Those things can be quickly overlooked or missed in the rush of our days yet if noticed their existance and voice provide blessing and inspiration. No creation, blog post, or gesture is to small or insignificant. Someone will always notice. Good luck! We love you.
